Christian Metal History - #6 - Jarek Pozarycki
Jarek Pozarycki has been a major player in the Christian metal scene and the Polish metal scene. Jarek, however, was not always a faithful servant of the Lord. Before becoming a Christian, he was a Satanist, but saw the error of his ways. Ever since, he has been praising the Lord with sounds of cymbals crashing and guitars thrashing, mostly in the form of black metal or unblack metal. The first band he began was the great and mighty Elgibbor. Elgibbor still goes on to this day. Starting in 1999, he has released 20 different releases, under that moniker alone. In 2017, he went to Audiofeed with a live lineup of himself on guitars, Mike "Sebat" Larson on guitars, Nyk "Azhael" Edigner on vocals, Aaron "Ruah" Kirby on bass, and Mike "Taberah" Carriker on drums.
Elgibbor is on a semblance of a hiatus at the morning. I've personally spoken to Jarek about this, so I have a decent idea about it. Boangeres and Fire Throne were the next two projects that he formed (to my best intelligence). Boangeres formed in 1999 alongside Elgibbor with a full lineup of people until 2002, when they changed the name to Fire Throne. Only Jarek and Jaisu (aka Unblasphemer) remained in the lineup. The band remained until around 2008, after their last release. Tertullian was also formed in 2002 but did nothing until 2015.
In 2006, Jarek joined Frost Like Ashes the legendary unblack metal band that cemented his place in the legendary status of the realm of Christian metal. Since then, he's been apart of the band. However, once the band went on hiatus, it's been stated by Sebat, that the band is no longer and won't be. Sacred Revelation and Knights of the New Temple were the next projects he formed in 2011 and 2012. However, neither of these bands lasted more than a year, each one releasing a single album or EP. In 2014, he began Katmus, which has released two albums. No Return to my Vomit released an album in 2014, and has not been heard from since. Old Man Frost, a supergroup consisting of Jarek, Sebat, Azahel and Wretched from Grave Robber, is currently working on their debut album, since forming in 2010. Ithiel formed in 2015 and ended shortly afterwards. Nuclear Blaze began in 2012 and released an album in 2015, The Time of Sodom and Gommorah and a single "Death Sucks". He formed a project called Katharos in 2017 with Taberah from his live lineup, and released a self titled EP. However, due to confusion with another band called Katharos, that had drastically different lyrical themes, the band split up and the two created a new project titled Tordenskrall. The project is still active. The only band that Jarek has had that has nothing known of them is Blaze.
All of these releases are available online in some form or another, save Blaze. Nuclear Blaze and Katharos are available via Nosral Recordings. Elgibbor's are available mostly via Vision of God Records. No Return to my Vomit is available via SkyBurnsBlack Records. Tertullian has a Bandcamp. Just giving y'all a generalized idea. I hope you find some awesome new music from Jarek. Just be aware; mostly unblack metal.
