News: Broken Flesh Loses Two Members; Announce New Album
Don't you hate it when certain band members leave? It's not the same for a long time. For instance, look at Becoming the Archetype. Vocalist Jason Wisdom left the band in late 2011, and was replaced by Chris McCane. Many of the people I have spoke to about it say that they still think Jason Wisdom is better. Though they did think McCane did a great job! Anyhow, let's get to the point. Christian Death Metal band Broken Flesh has lost two primary members. Vocalist Jacob Mathes announced his departure on March 30th. Here's his statement.
"Hello, Jacob here.
I come here now to inform you all that I am stepping down from Broken Flesh, effective immediately. It's not something that I had any intention on announcing or bringing attention too, but I feel like I owe it to our fans out of courtesy for your awesome support.
This is an issue that I would appreciate if all who are concerned would simply respect the fact and not inquire as to the reasons behind it OR if I want to join another band.
It has been my immense honor to serve in the same ministry that brought me into a relationship with Jesus, and I pray that it continues to do the same for many many more. I firmly believe in the core reasons of which this ministry exist, it is a just and worthy cause. And as Broken Flesh continues to strive for the advancement of the kingdom of our creator, I ask that you all continue to lift its members up with your prayers and support, as will I.
Thank you all so much for everything good you have ever shown us while we have been on the road. Your generosity is something beautiful that leaves me speechless and I am eternally grateful for.
Love you all so much!
Jacob, signing off"
Soon after this, though there was no statement from him, Jacob's brother Josh (Bass) was mentioned in a statement about some upcoming shows, stating that he had left as well. Here's that statement.
"So it has come to pass that Jacob Mathes, and Joshua Mathes are no longer with us. Josh's last show will be at Serpent Stomp on April 23rd. We wish these guys nothing but the best in all they set themselves to do. They will both be greatly missed , as they both contributed so much to this band/ministry. We will fulfill all of our shows, and tours we have booked thus far.
June 30th- Columbia Mo
July 1st-Audio Feed
July 9th- TXDM Fest
And a few others before our Tour in Mexico in November. We thank everyone of you for your support over the years. God bless."
Evidently Jacob and Josh's was the Serpent Stomp Festival with Every Knee Shall Bow, Death Therapy, Living Sacrifice, and Becoming Saints.
"In 2 more days, this 4 piece line up will be taking the stage together for what may be the very last time. Lopez and I are writing a new album, Jacob and Josh will not be a part of this one. It's bittersweet, we are losing 2 amazing brothers. We wish them well in whatever musical ventures they pursue. And more than anything we hope that they reach many more for the kingdom!!
Get ready for a brutally nasty new album this winter! God bless you and thanks for the support.."
While this is a sad moment, I think soon Broken Flesh, now consisting of Drummer Brandon Lopez (who I interviewed) and Guitarist Kevin Tubby, will be on the look out for new members. Good luck BF!
