So here's a little idea I had. This is going to be new piece on my blog. Once a week, I'm going to cover a different band, of the Christian Metal (or Hardcore) genre. Comment what bands you would like to see next week! Alright, I'll shut up now and we can get on with it!
August Burns Red is a Christian metalcore band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The band formed in 2003 with Drummer/Pianist Matt Greiner and Lead Guitarist John "JB" Brubaker in Matt's farmhouse. Soon after, they hired their friends Rhythm Guitarist Brett Rambler, Vocalist Jon Hershey, and Bassist Jordan Tuscan. The band released an EP, titled Looks Fragile After All in 2004. Soon after the release, Hershey departed from the band, and was replaced by Josh McManness, who performed on their next album Thrill Seeker. Jordan and Josh both departed after the album was released and were replaced by current members, Vocalist Jake Luhrs and Bassist Dustin Davidson.
After the band got their lineup cemented, they released an album every other year, Messengers in 2007, Constellations in 2009, Leveler in 2011, Rescue & Restore in 2013, and finally Found in Far Away Places in 2015. In 2012, the band released a Christmas album, titled Sleddin' Hill, where they released several old Christmas songs in the Metal genre, and even wrote two of their own songs. In 2015, a song off their newest album, titled "Identity" was Grammy Nominated for "Best Metal Performance". In 2016, they released another Christmas cover of the track "What Child Is This?". Currently, 2017, the band is working on their newest album, set to be released via Fearless Recordings.
I hope you enjoyed this little experiment of mine. I can't wait to hear back from you guys! Tell me what you thought!
Signed
The Bearded Dragon
