Most of the songs on this Demo/Live EP have been released on the bands former works, including Brutal Death, The Omen King, and Deathcrusher.
This Live EP/Demo starts out with their song "Mouth of the Tomb". The song is very crazy. It's obviously a live recording but it sounds great.
"Violence" starts with 'Violencccccceeeeee!!!' It sounds nothing like the studio recording of the song but it is much faster and heavier. The song is totally brutal!! "Violence" is far from my favorite song of Abated Mass of Flesh but this version makes it closer to it.
"Vital Extrication" is pretty legit! I'm unsure which EP/Album this song was on, but I think I want to listen to the studio recording because I think it would be wicked! Vocalist Matt Plunkett (you remember him) does a crazy job with his live vocals.
"Premonitions of the Infected" is a track so far, exclusive to this album. It is breakdown heavy, and has some solo in the background. The drums are brutal, fast and full. The song is definitely worth it and it will most likely be on their sophomore album coming up.
"Iniquitous Decimation" was actually on both Brutal Death and The Omen King (their EP and Album). It is a pretty short song like a lot of their other songs on here, but all of them are brutal. It does not disappoint the Brutal death itch. This song will decimate all the secular brutal death metal bands! (see what I did there?)
"Saul I Am" is a very short but grinding song. not much to say other than MOSH! 'Saul I Am a mere reflection of the man, of the man, I've become'. Those are the lyrics. Powerful and decimating!
"Death crusher" starts right after "Saul I Am" fades out. I saw a live recording of the song on video and it was just as brutal as it is on this recording. This is some Brutal death core and it will beat you senseless. It as brutal and heavy as all gets out.
"Descended Upon the Deceased" is also an exclusive track. And it sounds amazing live. I just wish they had released the song on studio recording so I could compare which is better. It is probably my favorite track from this EP! Abated Mass of Flesh pulled off an amazing job on this thing. Guitarist Zach Plunkett and Thomas Wingate keep the brutality going with their spectacular riffs!
Overall: This EP can hold up against all secular and probably many of the Christian Brutal Death Metal bands' Live releases. It beats them to the ground! Descended Upon the Deceased is probably the best release of 2016 so far. Maybe a tie between Forfeit Thee Untrue's Cremationem Jesus Lacrimam and this EP. Check these guys out and go download this!!
