News: The Order Of Elijah Vocalist Renounces Faith
Yesterday, I read an article on The Order of Elijah. Their Vocalist has renounced his Christian Faith and said the band is not a Christian band. Actually they have said many times on their social media they are not a christian band. But they were as THEY said in this interview by Highwire Daze:Would you consider The Order of Elijah a Christian band? Why or why not?
Myk: Yes. We are most definitely a Christian band. We all follow the teachings of Christ and try to spread that message without all the preaching that tends to drive most people away from the idea.
Shane: Definitely. Many of us attend the same church. Our lyrics attempt to illuminate Christian beliefs and values. We have a shirt design that states we are Christians quite boldly. In fact, our very name is based on one of the prophets.
Josh: We are real people and not afraid to fight for what we believe in. We will push His message as far as this roller coaster will take us.
Shannon: Many other Christians don’t seem to consider us so due to the harshness of lyrical content and our lack of shame for who we are. God gave me the heart of a warrior so it’s in my nature to wage war.
Bryan: Even though we have no denomination we try our best to follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
All the members said this! Now certain members, and no I don't know which ones, have lost their faith. Shannon Low even says in this quote, 'God gave me the heart of a warrior'!
This is disappointing. Both on a spiritual level and a musical level. Low renounced his faith after reading a book of Richard Dawkins. Now if anyone else thinks that's crazy, I somewhat agree. It's like Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying (which was mentioned in a The Order of Elijah song "New Line of Defense"), with the same case. Luckily Lambesis has returned to the faith.
It's like Zao as well. All but one member have renounced their faith, but they're not preaching atheism luckily. Hopefully, Low will not make The Order of Elijah into that type of band. Like Vengeance Rising. NOW, that's a story. One that I will not go over, right now.
Nonetheless we need to keep him and the band in our prayers. I'm not sure I'll listen to the stuff after these first three albums, (Accession, Dethrone, War At Heart) and maybe not even that last one. Or rather not if you want to hear a Christian message. (I want to support them still). Much love and support to TOOE and its members!
